Is the US inthe Tank? Far From
July 19, 2008
Remember when everyone said all our manufacturing jobs gone?
With the U.S. Dollar so low we are a pretty good deal across the world. Thus, U.S. manufactured goods are flying off the productions lines in to giant storage containers as they are hoisted onto Ships and sent out to sea to buyers in other Countries. Large containers on ships are up 23% since this time last year.
But to read the news you would think we are in a deep recession . When in fact, we are not even in a recession. BUt tell the drive by media that.
The common question that the Politicians won’t touch with a ten foot poll this year at the end of an 8 year Presidential cycle is, “Areyou better off now than 8 years ago”? For many the answer is yes. For many no. Yet for many it yes but, and other no but….
However, the world is better off on the whole. 70 million people are entering the middle class across the world each year. As John Mauldin points out in his weekly newsletter this drives demand as people move from one spending range to the next.
