The Left's Bashing the Bush with the Katrina

So if you are a Democrat in Today's America, you are losing Congress at every election. And you are doing the only thing you can do. Blame Bush.

If it rains blame Bush.

We have had an ongoing joke in our family for about 15 years.

My elderly Grandmother was losing her marbles towards the end of her days. She would often wake up in the middle of the night and wake my father up (70 miles away) with a distressed phone call.

"That damned Reagan changed the time again." She would say with an authority rooted in her having gone thru the great depression. Everything wrong was Reagan's fault. Of course, Granma was losing it. But she had a valid excuse.

It was sad and all at the same time humorous to us Right Wingers knowing the our grandmother blamed everything wrong on Republicans.

And the mess in New Orleans comes and of course the Mayor and Governor immediately cry from their entitlement laden dens, for help. All the while blaming their favorite Bush.

But what they did not say is that the helpers were being turned away, while they failed to help themselves.

And now the Mayor is sending his Police Force off to Vegas with Cash, to party. While as a Country we spend a Billion a day to clean up their mess that they could have avoided.

The Lousiana Congress has gotten more Pork than any other state. Do you think they would have spent that money on fixing this disaster that many warned them was going to happen? NO.

Below are more interesting facts that just make it hard to believe that Mr. Bush made it rain.

They say a picture says a thousand words:

An aerial view of flooded school buses in a lot, Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, in New Orleans, LA. The flood is a result of Hurricane Katrina that passed through the area last Monday. (AP Photo)

WHY DIDN'T YOU DEPLOY THESE BUSES DURING THE MANDATORY EVACUATION, MR.MAYOR, INSTEAD OF BLAMING THE PRESIDENT FOR INACTION??

On Jesse Jackson's and rapper Kanye West asserted that the whites got preferential treatment and got out of town first: Umm. Let's see.

The mayor is black,The mayors power structure is black, The police dept. (as corrupt as it is) is 70% black.

On The Bush response:
Chris Ruddy says:
"This fact – which needs to be repeated and remembered – is that in our country, state and local governments have primary responsibility in dealing with local disasters....."

Ruddy makes clear that:

  • FEMA, was formed to coordinate and focus federal response to major disasters – to "assist" local and state governments......

  • State National Guards answer first to the governor of each state, not to the president. The National Guard exists not to defend one state from an invasion by another state, but primarily for emergencies like the one we have witnessed in New Orleans and in other areas impacted by Katrina. See"
Question? Why didn't the Governor call in her National Guard immediately?

  • "New Orleans had 48 hours of warning that a major Category 4 or 5 would make landfall near the city, yet local officials apparently did little to prepare."
I have a friend who vacated early to Houston. But he left with only the dogs and a suitcase. I thought it was just another false alarm he said. Where was the warning?

  • "And New Orleans' city leaders did almost nothing to evacuate the portion of the population with no transportation. In failing to follow their own evacuation plan, these officials did little to pre-position food, water and personnel to deal with the aftermath." See buses above.

Ruddy goes on to point to the actual New Orleans Hurricane plan for evacuation. It says:

  • "The authority to order the evacuation of residents threatened by an approaching hurricane is conferred to the Governor by Louisiana Statute. "

  • "This authority empowers the chief elected official of New Orleans, the Mayor of New Orleans, to order the evacuation of the parish residents threatened by an approaching hurricane."
The first mandatory evacuation came yesterday...almost a week post Hurricane.

  • "The city's plan also specifically called for the use of city-owned buses and school buses to evacuate the population."
    OOPS!

Ruddy goes on to ask,"But why should the New Orleans mayor and Governor Blanco take responsibility when they can blame George Bush and the Republicans in Washington?"...

"With congressional elections fast approaching, Democrats who are out of power in every branch of the federal government know they need to change the tide quickly."....

"They have apparently seized on the Katrina disaster to harm the president politically."

The AP predicted what would happen in New Orleans.
"Noted the AP then: "New Orleans dodged the knockout punch many feared from the hurricane, but the storm exposed what some say are significant flaws in the Big Easy's civil disaster plans."

It seems this disaster was predicted by more than just the AP.

And just when they get what they want with all the help, they turned the help away. Red Cross was blocked from delivering supplies to the Superdome

And This LA official calls the Fed murderers. Maybe Bush can make it all better by turning back time.

And for the people who want to rewrite history, watch this news clip as Bush declared LA a disaster area prior to the Hurricane even hitting.
