Recall Shenanigans to Pump you Up
Commentary:

Where to start? Arnold  throws his hat into the race to "Terminate" Davis. Davis and his cohorts are suing everyone to stop this "illegal" election. (recall elections have been on the books almost forever in Cali).

It seems the Dems are all backing off of open support for  Gov. Low Beam/Gumby except for the Big Unions. Big surprise there huh? The Unions have never met a Dem they couldn't pay off...err I mean support.

Meanwhile for the first time ever, more people left California in the last half of the 1990s than moved in from other states. Even though the state's population continues to grow because of immigration. This according to a U.S. Census Bureau report released recently.

More than 1.4 million people in the U.S. migrated to California from 1995 to 2000, while 2.2 million left — the highest migration numbers in the country. That exodus is "unprecedented," said Hans P. Johnson, a demographer with the Public Policy Institute of California, an independent San Francisco research organization.

Weak License Bill Short On Security

Last year, Gov. Gray Davis vetoed a bill to let undocumented immigrants get driver's licenses. He said it came close but ultimately failed to meet post-Sept. 11 security requirements. In response, a frustrated Sen. Gil Cedillo has introduced a new bill that not only ignores Davis' objections, but compounds the potential for fraud and identity theft. And yet, to the surprise of the governor's aides, Davis announced at a barbecue in July that he'd sign Cedillo's bill ``in a heartbeat.'' Davis' heart has been beating double-time lately. Organized labor and Latino groups have made it clear that he must deliver a license bill if he wants them to deliver their votes against a recall.

Governor Goes To Court

Predicting "government by marginal and extreme political forces" if the election to recall him goes forward as planned, Gov. Gray Davis on Monday added his own lawsuit to the stacks awaiting court action. The California Supreme Court, which already has begun weighing four other recall-related cases, set a Thursday deadline for a preliminary round of written arguments on Davis' suit. The governor also asked the same court to rule that he can
run as a candidate to succeed himself if he is recalled -- a possibility that Rescue California, the recall committee, said "would only give Gray Davis the opportunity to lose twice in the same election."
